CECC Press Conference 4-3-24

Chicago is the latest municipality to contemplate a city-wide restriction on using natural gas in residential buildings.

“Dubbed the “Clean and Affordable Building Ordinance” (CABO), this measure would prohibit any new building in Chicago from having a gas hook-up. To help counter this hasty policy decision, HPBA and the Midwest HPBA affiliate have joined a coalition of like-minded groups to amplify the message that this policy is bad for the environment, business, and the people of Chicago.

The Coalition is called the Clean Energy Choice Coalition (CECC)—whose mission is to stabilize the electrical grid, the economy, and our communities—to advocate for the fair treatment of our products as we pursue a clean energy future.”

2025 Biomass Tax Credit Expiration
On July 4, 2025, President Trump signed the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (H.R. 1) into law. This new legislation accelerates the expiration of the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit to December 31, 2025. You can still claim the 30% tax credit (up to $2,000 annually) for eligible wood or pellet stoves if it’s installed before the end of the year.
